in a room of decadent baronial mansion of Don Magnifico, Angelina, his stepdaughter from all known Cinderella, is intent to menial jobs while his two stepsisters, Clorinda and Tisbe, are strutting front of the mirror.
The girl sings a melancholy song ("Once there was a king"), as if foreseeing his future destiny, but now is reproached by the evil stepsisters bully.
suddenly knocks on the door of the building Alidoro, tutor to the prince Don Ramiro. Alidoro presented himself disguised as a beggar to test the heart of the three girls who live in the building (in fact the prince wants to marry his master and seeks a bride so beautiful, but above all good and virtuous). In the palace of Prince, Dandini and Ramiro discuss the daughters of the Baron (quietly, slowly), when suddenly comes a beautiful lady in disguise. It's Cinderella, beautifully dressed and veiled, to make an appearance among the general amazement ("speak, think, I").
